Description

This Rogue driver may have been introduced to Oregon's  Rogue River by Hudson Bay fur traders. It may also be descended from the early log drivers that migrated across the country to the Northwest from Maine. We may never know for certain. This model is 22" long and 6" across. The model rests on a lovely Walnut stand. Lines and construction detail are taken from the boat at Winkle Bar on the Rogue (Zane Gray's old boat). This is a planked boat and to the extent possible is modeled using the materials as they appeared in the originals. These boats were the work horses of the Rogue for 100 years beginning in the 1850s.
